July 29, 2010 - First Modaris 3D Fit student contest at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute

Following the 2009 signature of a Privilege Partnership, the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (Netherlands) and Lectra organized the first Modaris 3D Fit award.
On July 2, 2010 in Amsterdam AMFI’s 3rd year Design program student Laura Kirchner was awarded a Modaris and Modaris 3D Fit license, after the 10 competing students presented their work to a jury composed of Mariette Hoitink, founder of fashion recruitment & consulting firm HTNK, Jantien van Zuilen, from Amsterdam department store DeBijenkorf’s buying department, Andrea Wiegman, journalist at fashion magazine “Second Sight”, P. Leferink, design teacher at AMFI, and Thierry Moncoutié, 2D/3D CAD product manager at Lectra.

Each student (or group of two) had to present a mini-collection composed of a mood board, technical sketches of men’s wear or women’s wear, the related Modaris patterns, the related Modaris 3D Fit simulations, as well as the physical samples once both styles and patterns have been adjusted and approved.
The jury was impressed by the students’ inspiration and styles, the results achieved in Modaris 3D Fit for pattern-construction control and style validation, despite their intricate and complex styles. They were also very impressed by the way they had assimilated the solution – using it to boost their creativity by applying different style elements, fabrics, colors, and adjusting their patterns accordingly – and took production constraints into consideration.

Congratulations to all students, including Bram Bekker and Annabelle Lampe who rank number 2 and 3 in the competition, for their strong investment, as well as AMFI teachers, Ineke Siersema and Sandra Kuijpers, who have succeeded in sharing their knowledge and motivation with them.

May 5, 2009 - Students from IFM, FIT and HKPU study Lectra

As part of the "Global Fashion Executive Program", students from the French Fashion Institute (IFM), the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, three of Lectra's Privilege Partners, have been working on a Lectra case study.

Created by the IFM in partnership with these two prestigious establishments, this MBA prepares managers for the fashion and creative industries, and each year it brings together students selected by the three schools. The program includes three seminars in New York, Paris, and Hong Kong which give students the opportunity to visit companies, attend talks given by important figures from the fashion world and to work on "business cases"drawn from a key company in this sector. One of the IFM's aims this year was to show that new technologies are an essential aspect of fashion's economic landscape. That's why the program's director Véronique Schilling-Delignette, asked Daniel Harari, Lectra CEO, to speak at the Parisian session. Lectra is a key player, with a presence in all the most famous brands such as Hermès and Dior who once again took part in the seminar.

The mission given to the five working groups was to capitalize on their cultural differences and professional experience to prepare a marketing plan and an action plan for the launch of the new version of Modaris in China, the U.S., and in Europe. The case study, prepared by Lectra experts was presented to the students in Lectra's offices in Paris. The students then had to present their plans to a jury, chaired by Daniel Harari, who was able to discuss with them their perception of the challenges facing fashion manufacturers and Lectra's business.

Lectra's participation in this seminar, in complete alignment with the aims of our Education partnership, shows the interest of the Education program which allows extremely fruitful exchanges both for students and speakers.
