EDITORIAL

Fast calendars, ever-changing trends, and increasingly delocalized production make today’s apparel development process extremely challenging. Not only does this make building teamwork at different stages of the development cycle more difficult, but it also creates a very real division between creation, development management, and production. With production no longer easily accessible locally, the opportunity that once existed to learn and observe how production needs should integrate into concept development and costing no longer exist for many of us in the industry. Consequently, the level of technical knowledge varies widely from person to person; we no longer have the time nor the opportunity to expand beyond our primary roles and develop a more complete vision of product development. Specialization of labor creates both opportunities and disadvantages.

In this LectraNews, discover how Lectra Fashion PLM helps to bridge this gap by facilitating knowledge exchange to maximize each contributor’s strength, from designer to pattern maker to supplier. The creative process benefits from technical expertise found elsewhere in the development chain, leading to better designs, lower costs, respect for technical constraints, and faster time-to-market. This is why Lectra Fashion PLM is the only collaborative platform for fashion development that will support your business.

We hope you enjoy this edition of LectraNews Fashion.
