Among the delegates were Lisa Skoglund-Kangasniemi, Strategic HR—Pattern Makers & Cutters, and Christina Bager, Division Pattern Maker, from H&M (Sweden), who presented their company, working methods and objectives. They emphasized their constant search for the highest quality at the best price, and explained how the dynamic nature of the company drives its need for highly skilled pattern makers, trained in the latest technology—in particular Modaris®.
The event was held at Ravensbourne’s campus in London, and delegates also had the opportunity to visit the Royal College of Art. All of them insisted on the value of this event which allows them to share their views and expertise and is a source of ideas and inspiration.

For the third year running, Lectra and the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) organized a design contest for students using Modaris, Lectra’s 2D pattern making and 3D prototyping software.
The first prize was awarded to Xuan Ha Vu, a third year design student, whilst the second and third prizes went to Kyra Wessel and Anne Van Den Boogaard respectively. Each winner received a Modaris V7 licence.
The students were asked to present a mini collection comprising a trend board, technical drawings, the associated patterns and their 3D simulations created using Modaris, as well as the actual garments. The 3D technology enabled the budding stylists to create virtual prototypes and test their creative ideas, by trying out various shapes and different prints, weaves or knits developed using Kaledo.
Jury members were as follows: Charlotte Holm, Global Head of Design, Kids at Esprit; Juliette Vastermann, journalist for NRC Next; Peter Leferink, principal design lecturer at AMFI; and Anne-Laure Frizon, Education Program Manager at Lectra. These industry specialists praised the quality and variety of projects presented by the group of students, and paid tribute to the work of Sandra Kuijpers and Ineke Siersema, the teachers who coordinated the project and supported the students.
