Textura
Textura Ensures High-Quality Production with Lectra’s New VectorFashionFX Automated Cutting Solution

Textura is a designer and manufacturer of high-quality branded menswear based near Florence, Italy. The company covers the entire range of the product lifecycle, from collection design to prototyping to manufacturing. Textura has used Lectra design and product development applications for nearly 20 years, and is currently equipped with Diamino marker making software, Modaris pattern making software and Alys plotters, as well as three Vector automated cutting solutions.
The cutting room is the heart of our operation,” said Textura’s production manager, Marino Buonavita. “We’re committed to cutting all of our fabrics in Italy, rather than outsourcing to other countries, so that we can maintain control and guarantee the quality of our garments. That’s why we have always made a priority of investing in the best cutting technology.”
Textura has been using Lectra’s Vector automated cutting solutions since 2001, which Marino Buonavita says have enabled the company to increase its cutting capacity and quality, and respond effectively to an increasingly demanding market.
Textura recently adopted Lectra’s newest fashion-dedicated automated cutting solution, the VectorFashionFX. “The new cutter has taken us over a technological barrier,” said Marino Buonavita. The VectorFashionFX provides precise cutting of markers with little or no gaps in between, optimizing fabric consumption and enabling Textura to reduce the cost of raw materials. “The added value of the new Lectra cutter lies in its ability to dramatically reduce the gaps between pieces and still provide a very high quality of cutting,” stated Marino Buonavita. “We’re now able to produce larger quantities of perfectly-cut garments with the same amount of raw material."

Performance in the service of productivity

Dedicated to fashion companies, the new VectorFashionFX is equipped with intuitive new operating software which also facilitates the work of operators. “The new cutter constantly communicates its status with the operator, giving him a clear, real-time view of the operation,” said Marino Buonavita. “As a result, our operators have a more intimate relationship with the cutting process, and our production is much more efficient.”
The newly designed software of the VectorFashionFX enables the operator to transition from production of highly complex garments to simpler models which require a more standardized approach, quickly adapting the machine’s cutting parameters to the varying cutting constraints of different thicknesses and fabric types. It immediately records any mechanical problems or software anomalies and stores them in a file that the operator can access to analyze and solve the problem immediately.
We cut a wide variety of spreads every day, and our operators need to be able to identify anomalies and modify parameters at any given moment – even during the cut – depending on the particularities of the fabric,” said Marino Buonavita. “The new VectorFashionFX provides that important capability. Overall, we’ve seen a productivity increase of 15-20%.”
