DMU’s partnership with Lectra boosts students’ employability by enhancing their design skills with industry-standard expertise in pattern making, grading, and marker making.

DMU’s three-year Contour Fashion course, established in 1947 to support the local cor-set industry, is the oldest degree-level inti-mate apparel course in the world. Its curricu¬lum includes lingerie, corsetry, loungewear, sportswear, swimwear, and shapewear.

An award was recently created to shine the spotlight on design and pattern making students from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. Students were tasked with designing a small lingerie collection that reflects the aesthetic of French brand Aubade. Students were required to both design and develop their collections with Lectra's product development solution, Modaris.

"Our student used Lectra solutions, which are at the core of our program and which are an undeniable advantage when looking for a job.

This contest is a true opportunity for our final-year students who were really motivated. They’ve demonstrated great creativity, drawing from Aubade’s brand spirit and concentrating on technical aspects to obtain a perfect fit."

“I found Lectra really helpful because it allowed me to perfect patterns in a way which was impossible to accomplish on another software and allow me to make a garment that was technically perfect,” enthuses competition winner and DMU Contour Fashion student Ellie Balwako.
