Founded in 1991, the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW) is the largest university of applied sciences in Berlin.

The school offers a remarkable wide range of curricula, around 60 different Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, from technology to economics to culture and design. Each year, the fashion design department welcomes 300 students from different backgrounds in fashion and art. The fashion design curriculum offers interdisciplinary courses including textile design, pattern making and collection management, as well as marketing, fashion sociology and accounting.

“Lectra enables students to create styles for their collections and test collections in several colorways and sizes with different prints and colors. This helps students speed up the design process by combining free-hand and computer-assisted drawing or scanning hand-painted designs in a unique file”

Professor Johanna Michel

Head of the Design section at HTW Berlin
