Going faster than fast fashion: GGZ automates its product development process with Lectra’s patternmaking technology

Renowned Italian manufacturer is speeding up its product development process with Modaris Expert to help its in-house brand strengthen its foothold in the fast fashion marketplace

Visuel Webpage-customer story GGZ

GGZ started as a family business in 1968 and has been developing 100% Italian-made products for more  than 50 years. The company now serves over 2,000 international customers and has launched its own in-house fashion brands: Vicolo, a fast-fashion brand and Solotre, a womenswear brand. GGZ  was facing the challenge of having  to dramatically increase its production output and diversify styles without sacrificing  quality,  so  that  Vicolo  could  compete  in  the  fast-fashion arena and expand its international presence.

Automating the product development process to gain speed and agility

GGZ’s prototyping and patternmaking teams had been doing everything by hand. With 1,250 styles a year to develop for Vicolo, product development had become increasingly difficult.  It was important for them to find a solution that could help them automate and improve this process. That way, they could develop efficient workflows, improve teamwork, save time and gain ample flexibility and agility to produce high volumes of garments within shorter time frames. For that, they sought Lectra’s help, and in turn, the technology company proposed Modaris Expert.

Choosing the right technology partner to implement a new process

The  company  decided  to  adopt  Modaris  Expert and succeeded in  reducing  its  time  to market and channeling the hours of  precious  time  saved  back  into  high-value  activities like collection analysis and design. Thanks to this technology, GGZ was able to deliver under increasingly tight deadlines and keep pace with fashion trends, offering its consumers on-trend designs. After much success, the company knew that they have made the right decision. “We are confident that Lectra’s proven ability to adapt to our changing needs makes them the right choice as our technology partner,” says Nicoletta Stona, the patternmaking manager at GGZ.
